Nestled in the beautiful rural landscape of Kytäjä, Hyvinkää, lies Sillankorva Organic Farm, run by Peggy Kleinhans.

Originally from Germany, Peggy arrived in Finland in the 1990s, first living in Lappeenranta before moving to Hyvinkää. By day, Peggy works as a mechanical engineer, but she moved to Kytäjä ten years ago and began running Sillankorva Farm as a side venture.

Right from the start, Peggy sought organic certification for her farm, as the land had been left fallow for years before her arrival. Now, Sillankorva's soil has been free of chemicals for a full 18 years.

Running the farm is more than a full-time job, but thankfully, Peggy has helpers on her team. These assistants work on the farm throughout the summer season.

Peggy sells her products at markets and the farm’s own shop, which is open on Saturdays. There, customers can buy fresh produce directly from the farmer. This past summer, the shop offered potatoes, kale, bush beans, currants, and tomatoes, among other delights.

Currently, Sillankorva Farm also grows a variety of plants, including many types of herbs, marigolds, and sea buckthorn. Peggy produces herbal teas, oils, vinegars, salts, and spices from these raw materials. These handcrafted products are sold through the Reko food network and directly from the farm.

From Sillankorva Farm, Flow receives nettle, marigold, and peppermint.
