Flow Cosmetics and Zero Waste

Are you familiar with the zero waste concept? Zero waste is a mindset where the goal is to minimize the amount of waste generated in daily life and strive for a sustainable lifestyle. Practically, this means favoring products that do not leave behind mixed or energy waste packaging materials, such as plastic.

Sustainability and environmental awareness are essential parts of Flow’s company ideology. We want to positively impact the planet we leave for future generations through our everyday choices. Therefore, we have long aimed for more sustainable solutions in terms of raw materials, production methods, and packaging materials.

Zero waste is one of our most important criteria for our product packaging at Flow. In the fall of 2019, Flow Cosmetics underwent a major brand renewal, with a particular focus on the zero waste concept. We eliminated plastic from our packaging materials and replaced it with recyclable glass, aluminum, and cardboard. Now, the majority of Flow products follow this recycling principle. In a few products, we still need to use plastic pumps as we have not yet found a functional, recycled material solution. However, we strongly believe that we will eventually eliminate plastic use altogether. We strive to adhere to zero waste principles as broadly as possible in our online store shipments and other daily operations.

Flow Cosmetics’ zero waste range includes long-lasting organic solid shampoos, solid conditioner bars, various scented organic salt soaps for body and hair, and gentle facial soaps for different skin types. All these products are packaged in cardboard boxes that can be recycled with paper or burned.

Additionally, many of our products have packaging materials that are very easy to recycle. Flow product glass jars and bottles are suitable for glass recycling, and the aluminum lids and caps can be sorted into metal recycling. The cardboard outer packaging of these products can also be recycled with paper or burned.
